Qteq Toowoomba hosts Safer Together forum

19 June 2018 at 2:00:00 pm

On Wednesday June 20th, the Safer Together Group’s quarterly forum visited Toowoomba in a bid to bring businesses together with the purpose of achieving Goal Zero. Dozens of Safer Together member companies, local affiliates and dignitaries filled the Empire Theatre to discuss ways in which to achieve this goal.

Several activities were organised for the day, one of which involved groups of delegates visiting a number of Toowoomba’s businesses to meet with local staff and gain understanding of how these companies continue to work towards keeping their people safe.

Qteq’s operations base in Harristown was fortunate enough to host approximately 40 people attending the forum, affording the local Qteq team the opportunity to showcase the safety culture built over the years, and the pride with which Qteq works to attain Goal Zero.

Representatives from Arrow, Santos, Senex, QGC Shell, Kinetic, BHGE, Shamrock Civil, and several other companies attended presentations and discussions on three topics on which Qteq focuses its efforts in particular: Driving (presented by Hannah McConnell), On-boarding (presented by Louis McGowan) and Hand Safety (presented by Jeremy Phillips).

While Qteq is always improving in these areas, the presentations sparked some incredibly worthwhile discussions, with several of the highly experienced attendees offering some great insights and valuable advice.

The high standards Qteq sets for its staff working on location and in the workshop, combined with the positive attitude and energy of its young Operations team, obviously struck a chord with quite a number of the Safer Together visitors. As such, general feedback was very positive and Qteq would like to thank all those involved in making this event such a great success.

Qteq would also like to thank Safer Together for the opportunity to demonstrate its continued commitment to making the industry a safer place to work in for all, and look forward to being allowed to host another Safer Together such event.
