Qteq is a privately held company focused on using innovative technologies to improve exploration and production of oil, gas, water and alternative energy resources.
Our focus grew out of a need to constantly capitalise on disruptive technologies so that our clients can achieve real efficiencies and cost savings while meeting their desired social and environmental outcomes.
Our ability to develop fit-for-purpose technologies at an appropriate price point has enabled us to become the largest provider of subsurface pressure monitoring systems in the world.
With over 7,000 of these systems installed in Australia alone, and having conducted over 1,200 BMR logs globally, we are renowned for our advanced sensor technologies that measure and monitor the subsurface.

Our range of products and services has been driven by a simple philosophy: develop and supply innovations that do more, for less, more often and faster while leaving a smaller footprint, thus mitigating social and environmental impacts.
For example, companies using Qteq’s PumpTraq technology to optimise their CSG well-dewatering strategies find they are enhancing the lifespan of their submersible pumps. This accelerates the onset of gas production and maximises gas production rates while boosting recovery factors.
R&D and Engineering
Qteq has pioneered the development of an advanced, miniaturised, slim Borehole Magnetic Resonance (BMR) logging tool.
This logging tool is used to characterise the pore network of rocks, quantify rock permeability, and distinguish fluid types occupying the pores and bound to clays.
The assembly of an in-house multi-disciplinary engineering team, with specialist expertise in magnetics, RF analogue and digital electronics, high power electrical systems, signal processing, mechanical design and coding of embedded firmware and applications software, has been crucial to the success of this endeavour.
Their combined collaboration has enabled the rapid prototyping and maturation of an innovative and extensible BMR technology platform, capable of exceptional measurement sensitivity and delivering high quality, high resolution data, on a wide range of geophysical pore-related parameters.
Today, the team is engaged in development of next-generation BMR systems encompassed under an extensive capability roadmap. This roadmap aims to expand both the BMR applications and operations envelopes, and expand configurations to interface with other geophysical sensors; both traditional types and new ones being developed in-house or through collaboration with technology partners.
This increasing sophistication will allow Qteq to target a wider range of environments and answer products.
The team also includes analytical scientists to study ways of using BMR measurements to solve challenges associated with accurate determination of various rock and fluid physical characteristics used to assess georesource quality.
Production & Maintenance
Qteq’s Perth manufacturing facility was established to build, calibrate and maintain Borehole Magnetic Resonance (BMR) logging tools.
These tool life-cycle activities are governed by a Quality Management System that relies on relevant aspects from several industry standards such as ISO9001, thereby controlling all aspects of hardware reliability and ensuring delivery of tools of a consistent high quality standard.
The state-of-the-art calibration system and process also ensures that the BMR logging tools deliver high quality data.
Prior to shipping a BMR logging tool to one of our worldwide clients and partners, it is subjected to a very rigorous and stringent Quality Assurance program. Key aspects of the program include: goods inward inspection, sub-assembly function testing, build records, system integration testing, tool tuning and calibration records, and tool utilisation records.
Supply chain, inventory management, warehousing and logistics of our BMR logging tools is also fully integrated and managed from our Perth facility, and are supported by relevant key business functions.
